In everything that I do I try my hardest to cultivate compassion for all life, human and other wise. We are all a part of an on-going story, and birth is a life-changing, transforming event. By cultivating compassion in birth, the world your baby is entering becomes more peaceful.
Birth belongs to Mom (or birthing person) and Partner--and them alone. Each family has the right to create their own birth story and to find what is most important for them. I will support families in any setting in which they feel most comfortable- home, birth center or hospital. I will aid in the research if that is what would be helpful, and turn you on to the resources in the community that can help.
Birth can be an empowering experience when you feel confident to take charge of your choices, but it can also be a scary time if you feel unprepared or forced into situations you aren't comfortable with. Because of this I will help empower you to be confident in your desires and to express them confidently. I also work with people and families that have experienced past trauma to work through those feelings and prepare for a new birth experience.
I believe all pregnant people should have access to doula services, no matter their age, sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, class, or history, and I live this in my volunteer service to GALS, Giving Austin Labor Support. If money or access is an issue, please let me know.
